Just a few thoughts from Parker's mom :)

I have had a few (albeit very few) quiet moments lately when Parker is asleep on my chest after a 3 am feeding that I have been able to reflect on how my life has changed since his arrival. The first thing is that I never thought I could love someone as much as I do Parker. My feelings almost overwhelm me at times and I border on crying with joy, though I am still chalking some of these little out bursts up to the surging hormones post pregnancy. :)
Secondly, I never thought I could love Danny more than I did prior to Parker's birth but seeing how gentle and patient he is with Parker just makes me melt.
Thirdly, I never knew that being a grand parent, an aunt, a great aunt, a neighbor, or a friend, or any one of a thousand other familial titles would turn people into such kind and generous folks. Not that my family, Danny's family, and our adoptive UT family weren't great before but man......since Parker showed up the out pouring of love has been more than we EVER expected for us and this little guy.
Fourth, Don't let ANYONE tell you that giving birth is easy although it is shocking how quickly the memory of the pain fades. Whether you have an epidural or if you go natural... they don't call it labor for nothing. :)
Fifth, I would like to gently kick in the kidney whoever lied to me and told me that newborn babies sleep most of the day away. That is just a bald faced lie!
Sixth, Regaining control of one's physical abilities after giving birth sure takes longer than I ever thought. My poor poor bladder. :)
Seventh, sometimes babies just cry. I am sure if Parker could talk the reason for the crying would be more clear...but alas....sometimes I think he is going for the gold with his little lungs.
Eighth, I have never had a stronger belief that God lives and is really there for us. I KNOW He answers prayers cause it seems like I am constantly sending them up as of late.
And lastly, I know now that no matter what my son does or accomplishes in this life I will ALWAYS love him. And that all these recent sleepless nights and those to come will be worth it in the end.
And with those thoughts in mind my fellow blog followers I wish each of you, and myself, a restful evening. :)

Um, Steph. I had an epidural and my pain hasn't faded. I remember all of it. One of the many reasons I stopped at one. ;-) You're my hero for going natural (and I'd like to gently kick YOU in the kidney for your fast labor. REALLY? C'mon I had 39 HOURS for the love) But I DO know how you feel- it's amazing how quickly your life can center around that one little being. (Enjoy it till he hits about 3... that's when the attitude starts. Ugh.) We love y'all! :)

1. The crying is also a symptom of PPD, just saying
2. Danny is perfect I am surprised you love him more too.
3. We are only kind when you statisfy us with PJ pictures
4.I still think your crazy for doing all natural and I give you full permission to slap anyone who says it is easy.
5. I though newborns had to be fed at least every 2 hours?!?! Kick away
6.Detrol works wonders
7.Yes they do just cry. I am sure its because his favorite Aunite isn't there to hug/squeeze/love him
8. Dear Lord Baby Jeasus
And Lastly...
So if Parker James inspires to be a Alligator wrestler or Assistant High School Principal, or attend UM/UF your ok with that? Good to know. Just rememmber to always tell him...AIM HIGH

Oh Stephanie,
Your reflections as a new mother are so unique and yet so much like millions of other first time moms. Maybe it is the overwhelming newness of everything. You are new because now you're a mom, your relationship with Danny is new because now you are parents, and Parker is new because he is your first precious angel. Enjoy these special feelings. They are truely a one of a kind experience that you will treasure and remember forever.
God has given you a very special gift, but without a manual! Do what feels right, listen to your maternal instincts, hold on tight to Danny for support and send up all the prayers you need. The answers are right there.
Rest well my beautiful daughter,
Love,
Mom

Steph,
Your reflections are shared and also so uniquely you. You and Danny do "have it right" and with the addition of Parker-just makes it complete.
You are sooooo correct-we can't seem to contain the love we feel for all of you.
Hugs and Kisses,
