The Caribbean of the Rockies

Danny got a new job! He is the new city planner for Garden City, Utah.
Google Bear Lake, Utah when you get a chance and see where he works. Sure is pretty. He heads up there, (about a hour's commute from here,) twice a week and then works from home the other three days. But the job is quickly going full time and he also just picked up more work through his own company for a firm in Salt Lake. I am so happy that he is sooooo stinking busy. Really I am. Not only does it mean enough money to diaper our two adorable kids but it also means we can come home in September for a few weeks to visit friends and family. :) :)
Life really is quite good and that is just the way I like it. :)

Cinderelly Cinderelly do the dishes, wipe the floor!

Parker LOVES to play with the dishes in the sink!
Here he is in a waaaaaaaay soggy diaper and one navy blue sock just washing away the hours! :)

This was the closest thing to a smile that I could get out of him for the 2 seconds he was willing to be distracted from the task at hand!

My sweet skinny little boy. So cute and having so much fun!!

One is Wonderful!!!!

So this not so small, "little girl," is growing up fast!!!
She was 12.1 at her last check up and 23 1/4 in long. Paisley Kay is just the sweetest chunkle dunkle you'll ever meet. In the video above she has the hiccups,
but hasn't freaked out about them yet. :)
She enjoys smiling at her parents and especially her brother.
She has the lungs of an aspiring opera singer and loves to roll over whenever she can!
She is the perfect addition to the White House
and we're so thankful that she decided to join our little family!!!!!

Here she is just stretching out in her pink dress! Thanks again to Kim Sirmans for the adorable month signs to document this upcoming year in pictures for Paisley.
I apologize that these pics seems a little dark but this was the best I could do without Parks here to distract her. :)

Just another shot at a slightly different angle.

So every friend of mine, it would seem, has an adorable little girl who LOVES to wear frilly dresses, cute socks and precious hair bows. Alas....not Paisley. She screams and fidgets when she is wearing any of the above mentioned items for more than 30 seconds. Case in point for the above picture. Matter of fact these pics are only so-so because I had exactly 2.5 minutes to take them before she had a complete meltdown.
I have to give my girl credit though, she is completely comfortable telling me exactly where to stick it when I try to get her to do something she doesn't want to. And I must admit, that bodes well for her self confidence in the future. :)

Just Me and my Auntie!!

Paisley just loves being held by Stacie. If I am having a hard night with her Stac is so willing to give me a much needed break by loving on, "Playzee." You gotta love her for that!

My favorite sister and my favorite daughter. :)

Parker James, best big brother EVER!!

It's funny... I didn't realize how much Parks had matured until I held Paisley for the first time. He is truly my Big Boy now and he continues to make me so proud with all he has learned. Yet....I find myself a little misty eyed to fully realize he is growing up. To hold him now and rock him before he goes to sleep at night is almost impossible. He is only 35 inches long but he just doesn't really, "fit," with me in the recliner anymore, you know? Speaking of bed time, he received a new big boy bed from our friends, the Jenkins, and as a surprise I bought a bunch of Thomas the Train decals and covered the bed with them and bought him a sheet set with Thomas on it as well. Boy does he ever LOVE his new bed and that little blue train. :)

He also loves to sing...especially the hymns. Seriously...never known of another kid that loves to memorize hymns. I Know That My Redeemer Lives, Abide With Me Tis Eventide, I Believe In Christ, just to name a few, plus a friggin' boat load of Primary songs. And not just the first verse mind you...4 and sometimes 5 verses depending on the song in question. My favorite though is when he sings either Jimmy Buffet's A Pirate Looks at Forty or Jack Johnson's Do You Remember. The kid is just amazing. I hear him in his room at night after we have said family prayers, just belting those tunes out like he is on his own version of American Idol. :) He melts my heart.

He has also learned all his ABCs, can count easily and recognize most shapes and animals, and all his colors. He can easily open every door in our house. Which he demonstrated perfectly today when he let himself out of his room when he was supposed to be taking a nap! :) He is an endless ball of energy. It is all I can do to get him to stop and eat a few bites of food. Which is why even with being in the 85th percentile for height he is only in the 8th percentile for weight. :) Like his pediatrician says, "you folks have the American Dream. He is tall, lean, and brilliant!" Not to brag but it makes a momma proud!

But the thing that impresses me most about him is how much he loves his little sister. He is super kind to her. When she has been screaming in her car seat right next to his, for 45 minutes straight, this is what he says first, "Shhh Playzee it's OK." then when she doesn't stop he says, "Mommy, Playzee is sad. She is crying." But if Paisley still doesn't stop he finally says to me, in a slightly aggravated voice, "Mommy hold Playzee. Make her take good nap."  :)   He also is constantly trying to feed her and give her a binky, hmmmmm.....maybe that's to help keep her quiet now that I think about it. :)

I feel the need...the need for speed :)

Parker loves airplanes. I dare say that next to trains they are his favorite things that move. But sadly for him Logan only has a little tiny airport that not many planes fly into. So it was a real treat for Danny and Parks to get out of the jeep and watch some of the pilots in training from USU do multiple touch and go landings. Though we may live 2300 miles from FSU Parks is still proud to sport the Seminole colors!!!!
There is nothing more that these two love than being together. :)
Check that smile folks.....no wonder he is one of the brightest lights in our lives.

This is a video of the boys watching the planes. I love listening to Parks say, "here comes the airplane," in his little sing songy voice.

Silly Bathroom songs for my son's entertainment

So it's probably not a secret to those that know me well, that I love to sing to Parker. And it is usually silly songs I make up cause those make him giggle the most. And since he is trying to potty train these songs are even funnier to him when I am changing his diaper. :) He loves to sing them with me and even when he is doing things totally unrelated to the bathroom I will catch him singing these to himself. Below are the lyrics to the Poop Poop Poop Your Pants song I made up, sung to the tune of If You're Happy and You Know It.

Did you poop poop poop poop your pants?
Did you poop poop poop poop your pants?
If you're feeling warm and mushy all down around your tushy,
Then you probably poop poop pooped your pants!

Did you poop poop poop poop your pants?
Did you poop poop poop poop your pants?
If it's smelling nice and ripe, then you probably need a wipe,
Cause you probably poop poop pooped your pants!

Did you poop poop poop poop your pants?
Did you poop poop poop poop your pants?
If you think you dropped a load in your portable commode,
Then you probably poop poop pooped your pants!

And then there is the Poop Penguin song that I made up to go along with this adorable tiny wood penguin that my dear friend Marissa sent to Parker. He loves to hold it during diaper change time and hopefully when on the potty.......:)

The Poop Penguin the Poop penguin
He helps us when we fill our pants
The Poop Penguin the Poop penguin
He helps us to do the clean pants dance!

Feel free to start a small fund in my child's name for the therapy he will most certainly need when he is older, due to his mother's goofiness! :)

Welcome to the World Paisley Kay!!!

Paisley arrived at 6:08pm on the evening of the 4th! She was just the sweetest little snuggles from the start! She was born at home, just like Parks was, weighing in at a comfortable 10lbs and 8oz, and was 21 and 1/4in. long. She has blue eyes and brown hair with little wisps of blond starting to show up on that little noggin' of hers. She sleeps and eats like a champ now that we know she has the same milk protein allergy that her brother had and have put her on the same specialized formula he used. At her new born check up today she was 22in long and has regained the slight amount she lost and added a bit to the total of 10lb and 10 oz!!!
She fits so well into our little family it's hard to believe she hasn't been here all along. :)
Parker TRULY adores her. Seriously....every time he hears her crying he says, "Shhh...it's OK Playzie!" And he always pets her head and says, "soft with the Palyzie." He loves to tell her he loves her and give her these special kisses he does. They never actually involve his lips touching her more just the loud exaggerated sound effect of someone smacking their lips together and making that, " muwahh," sound! :)
All I can think of when I see this picture of a certain someone in his sister's bouncer is the line from Batman where Jack Nicholson as the Joker says, "Where does he get all those wonderful toys? " (Her toys in this case!!)
And never to be out done in the category of adorable, even by his stinkin' cute newborn sister, this is Parker James at the optometrist office, (which incidentally he kept referring to as HIS office, hmmm might I have a future Dr. on my hands?) they gave him an eye sticker for being so good at our 1.5 hour long appt and guess where Parks wanted to put it?  :) That's my boy!

The Last Days

As Paisley's birthday draws ever closer I find myself wishing for just a little more time. Time to spend with just Parker. Or just Danny for that matter. Time to spend nesting for Paisley. Time to spend actually sleeping :)

Alas.....time is the ever elusive friend.

Not that I am not truly excited for her birth. She is a daughter/sister that is so loved already that Parker prays for his, "Playzee," every night. :) Pets my tummy as he talks to her and gives her, "knuckles," nearly daily.
He's gonna be a great big brother, of that I have no doubt.

So let the countdown begin and bring on the next greatest gift I have ever been privileged to receive.

By the way I have several more pics from Parker's 2nd birthday party at the gymnastics place that I will be posting shortly.

Changes in lattitudes changes in attitudes the remix

So as 2011 comes to a close in a few hours I am taking just a quick moment to reflect on what an incredible year it has been for our family.
We started the year with a feeling of emptiness and loss but will be blessed to ring in 2012 with a strong little heart beat brought to us by our baby girl Paisley who will be joining us in Feb. :)
Parker has progressed as always by leaps and bounds and Danny and I thank the Lord everyday for him and for each other.
I can say my testimony of life's blessings and challenges has never been stronger and I know for certain that He, from who all blessings flow, has truly cradled us in his arms of mercy and love.

Life is good.
And with that thought and a few parting words from Mr. Jimmy Buffett I bid you all a peaceful end to 2011 and an adventure filled 2012.

Oh, yesterdays over my shoulder
So I can't look back for too long
There's just too much to see waiting in front of me
And I know that I just can't go wrong

With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of my running and all of my cunning
If I couldn't laugh I just would go insane :)

Family Christmas Pictures 2011

Shelli again came through with flying colors! We ended up taking them at a place here in Wellsville called Gunnell Park. I am of course HUGE but have resigned myself to this fact until the Paisley one is born! :)
Check out some of these ADORABLE shots of my son and husband!!!!

Look at those sweet grins. Parks loved the see saw!

Paisley and I.

Official family Christmas shot 2011!
Parker trying to make my hair look good! :)
Similar shot but I love how he has his legs pulled up in this one.

These next three shots are some of the most original I have ever seen. Shelli pulled out a bubble wand and sent a few bubbles up into the air to gain Parker's attention. What transpired next are photos to be treasured.
Look at the spray from where it burst!!!! Perfect timing Shelli!

And then just prior to the burst!!!! Such anticipation!!!!
Reaching up.
Hanging with daddy!
Second best shot for sure is these two at the swing!
Sweet precious baby boy. How do I love thee...let me count the ways!

Kid looks more like his father everyday. Not that I am complaining about that! :)
Final shot with the perfect Parker pout to finish off the photo shoot!
We love and miss yall and hope everyone is having a peaceful and hopeful holiday season thus far. :)
